Background
The MPH core courses provide instruction and a basis of knowledge in coursework that is basic to public health, including biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health sciences, program administration, and social and behavioral sciences. The Public Health -specific curriculum includes instruction in program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Students are introduced to graduate level research methods and may select from courses about injury prevention, nutrition, stress management, or other health-related behaviors.
Justification
The rigorous curriculum prepares students to become leading public health professionals capable of addressing current global health problems with multidisciplinary, evidence-based approaches.
During the program, students interact with public health faculty members renowned for teaching, practice and ongoing research around the world. In this diverse and collaborative learning environment, students learn as much from each other as they do from their coursework.

In addition to satisfying the general criteria for graduate admission to IST Burkinafaso, applicants must:
- Possess a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.00 or above (on a 4.00 scale). Applicants with GPAs below 3.00 may be admitted on a conditional basis if they submit evidence of the potential to be successful in graduate studies. Additional evidence may include letters of recommendation and a personal interview with graduate program faculty.
- Submit a personal letter of application stating the candidate’s reasons for seeking a Master of Public Health degree, discussion of experience relevant to public health, and leadership strengths.
- Two letters of recommendation from a major professor or professional colleague which evaluate the applicant’s leadership potential and capacity to complete a Master of Public Health degree. *Character references will be accepted if the student wishes to submit additional recommendation letters.
- Provide official transcript(s) from all accredited colleges or universities attended indicating the award of an undergraduate degree. International applicants with undergraduate .
- Qualified candidates may also be scheduled for an interview with the MPH faculty as part of the admissions process.

The MPH in Public Health Education will prepare public health educators with knowledge and skills consistent with IST public health competencies, roles and responsibilities. These competencies and activities are summarized by the following:

Specific Objectives
- Program prepares students to promote public health education, service, and research on local, national, and global levels.
- Full-time IST BURKINAFASO students working towards a graduate degree in public health are eligible for a 30 percent tuition scholarship.
- Courses are face-to-face, hybrid, and online and all start in the later afternoon and evening to accommodate the working professional.
- Strong partnerships with local community health organizations provide opportunities for student internships, projects, and future careers.
- Our active MPH Student Association sponsors many activities, including on-campus public health awareness events, attending local and national public health conferences, fundraising, community service initiatives and social events
Duration of the Programme: This course is offered on a Two-year (Four semesters), full-time or online basis for students with bachelor’s degree in Health sciences or the natural and physical sciences.
