Build on your existing qualifications or experience in this area to develop a good knowledge of architectural technology, building performance and the legislative framework that governs the industry.
The course offers a well-balanced blend of theory and practice informed by our links with industry that prepares you for the workplace.
Through the taught modules you will gain a broad understanding of the architectural technology and learn how to apply this knowledge through the Masters Design Project to create and evaluate design solutions.
Justification
master of engineering in architectural technology and design is a coursework-only degree program oriented toward students who wish to develop more knowledge about the design, construction, and operation of buildings and their systems. This degree program is intended to provide students with advanced preparation for engineering practice.
In addition, students are required to gain more in-depth knowledge by specializing in one of the following areas of concentration: building systems, construction management, or structures.

The entry requirement for this course is a Bachelor (Honours) Degree With Transcript. We look for applicants to have a background in architecture or architectural technology or Engineering in order to be considered for the programme.
As the degree is very specific, the Admissions team will request a copy of your degree transcript to check for evidence of the following modules to enable us to consider your application:
- Architectural Technology
- Construction Technology
- Architectural Design Ability
- Architectural Engineering
- Building Services.
We may also consider lesser qualifications if you have sufficient relevant work experience within the industry. There may also be a portfolio requirement if you apply with less than an Honours degree, this would be confirmed on submission of the application to the Admissions Team.

Whether you want to design and build homes from scratch, or learn how to restore historic structures, this course will give you the creative and technological skills to succeed.
Specific Objectives
At the end of this programs students will be able to :
- Study the latest international practices in architectural technology to inform your learning
- Explore construction technology, construction law and building regulations, enabling you to create comprehensive specifications for proposed design projects
- Produce a portfolio of work that highlights your skills and knowledge as an architectural technologist
Duration of the Programme: This course is offered on a Two-year (Four semesters), full-time or online basis for students with a UTS-recognised bachelor’s degree in engineering or the natural and physical sciences.
