Title of the Programme
The programme shall be Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunication Engineering B.Eng. (BTEE)
Telecommunications are responsible for a range of services used on a daily basis including landline and mobile phone services, internet and pay television. The widespread adaptation of high-speed digital transmission methods like fibre optic cabling and mobile telecommunications has resulted in significant changes in the industry.
Telecommunications Engineers design, develop and maintain all aspects of voice and data communications systems. They work on the theory and application of a broad range of systems such as telephone and data networks, radio and TV, satellites and deep space applications.
You’ll study a wide range of core subjects and electives depending on your interests, including:
- Engineering Design and Professional Practice
- Digital Circuit Design
- Electromagnetic Engineering
- Network Technologies
- Ecology, Sustainability and Environmental Science
- Sustainable Energy
You’ll complete a research thesis project with the support of leading researchers where you can explore an area of Telecommunications Engineering that sparks your interest. You’ll bring together engineering principles to solve problems such as the development of a specific design, process and/or the investigation of a hypothesis.
Telecommunications engineering deals with large-scale data networks, such as the internet and other devices and systems that represent, store and transmit analog and digital information. This includes data transmission, equipment, customer access technology, analog and digital radio and television systems, satellite communications, global navigation, mobile communications and remote sensing/telemetry systems.
The Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering (BTEE) program helps students to demonstrate theoretical and technical knowledge of telecommunications systems associated with LANs, MANs, and WANs. Students will learn to design, implement, and manage telecommunications systems using voice and data. The Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering (BS) program is offered online via distance learning. After evaluating both academic record and life experience, AIU staff working in conjunction with Faculty and Academic Advisors will assist students in setting up a custom-made program, designed on an individual basis. This flexibility to meet student needs is seldom found in other distance learning programs. Our online program does not require all students to take the same subjects/courses, use the same books, or learning materials. Instead, the online Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering (BTEE) curriculum is designed individually by the student and academic advisor.
