The BTHh integrates a well-developed foundation in Christian Studies with a broad and coherent theoretical and practical knowledge in theology and biblical studies. This includes exploration of the Christian tradition as developed historically and within faith traditions. It also includes engagement in the study of the primary texts of the Christian faith (Old and New Testaments) with reflection on how those texts have been interpreted both historically and in contemporary readings.

Taught from a faith-oriented perspective, the Bachelor of Theology from IST BURKINAFASO will equip you for Christian ministry or leadership – and broaden your horizons. The course is theologically and biblically rich, vocationally oriented, and is integrated with practical experience. Online programs have the same content and curriculum as traditional on-campus programs. If you are over the age of 21 at the time of commencement, you can apply for admission into this course on the basis of provisional entry, and complete the provisional entry qualifying period to become a full candidate.
- General Objectives
Firstly, the general Bachelor of Theology provides a broad range of courses in Biblical studies, systematic theology, missions, ministry, and so on. You have considerable freedom to choose courses that fit your interests and ministry priorities. You should prefer this option if your motivation is to prepare for pastoral ministry, missions, teaching, or if you are studying to enrich your knowledge of God and his Word.
Secondly, the Bachelor of Theology with a concentration on Christian counselling is for those who are called to serve as pastoral or lay counsellors. This programme has a fixed curriculum, consisting of 18 theological courses and 12 counselling courses. The counselling courses seek to integrate theological and psychological truths from a Bible-based, Christ-centered, Spirit-led perspective.
- Specific Objectives
The Bachelor of Theology degree aims to lay a biblical and theological background for persons of ministry. Students grow intellectually and spiritually through the outcomes of content, competence, character, and context.
- Describe the central message of the Bible;
- Identify the major issues that constitute Christian theological thought;
- Relate the heritage of the Christian faith to contemporary culture;
- Give evidence of skills development in such areas as thinking, reading, writing, preaching, teaching, counseling, organizing and relating to others;
- Apply the ethical and moral principles of the Christian faith to contemporary life;
- Effectively share the Christian faith with others for their salvation, sanctification, and growth in Christian maturity;
- Function effectively in some area of Christian ministry;
- Live an exemplary Christian lifestyle marked by humility, service, and victorious faith
Duration of the Programme: 3 years and one Year for a Diploma student.
Students are required to complete a total of 180 credit units (cu) to graduate with a basic degree.
